How important is the 24-hour check-in for Non-O visa holders in Thailand if I am leaving soon after arrival?

Of course. The law is the law and I want to respect it! But just wondering if I don’t check-in at immigration, and just leave the country again directly, they wouldn’t see that I haven’t checked in for those 48 hours I was back.
