Arrived in Thailand on Saturday on a Non-O visa, but flying out again on Wednesday morning for work. How important is the ‘24hr check-in’ after entering the country? Is there any penalty for leaving again without checking in? Thanks to Tod for sharing the schedule of holidays, just learned that Monday the office would be closed. So wondering if I can just save a long wait at immigration Tuesday if I’m then only going to leave again early Wednesday.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The importance of the 24-hour check-in (TM30) after entering Thailand on a Non-O visa is discussed, with several contributors suggesting that the risk of penalties for skipping this requirement is low if you are leaving the country soon. Although some immigration offices might impose fines, it's generally considered safe to leave without checking in, especially if no immigration visit occurs at your address. Opinions vary, and some emphasize adherence to the law for peace of mind.

I never have seen a report that Immigration is checking passport and giving you fines for earlier stays inside Thailand without reporting. If you leave Wednesday again, the only way to get a fine is when there is a visit to your address during a raid of Immigration before you leave.
CW is closed on Monday, so if you're flying out again on Wednesday, this leaves you Tuesday to do, and you can safely say it'll take half your day. So it depends whether your day is worth the extreme possibility of an 800baht fine possibly at some point down the track. Like most things involving Thai immigration there's never a 100% correct answer
Of course. The law is the law and I want to respect it! But just wondering if I don’t check-in at immigration, and just leave the country again directly, they wouldn’t see that I haven’t checked in for those 48 hours I was back.
