I remember years ago, a bigwig in Bangkok ordered immigration police to arrest anyone working as a Dive Master, I think it was in Phuket. The police went to dive centers and arrested several Westerners who were working as Dive Master. When someone higher up in immigration got wind of it, he ordered the release of those arrested because, even though dive masters are classed as tourist guides, nearly all people that go diving can converse in English, but not in Thai and there was only a few, if that Thais that could hold English conversation. So everything went back to the way it was.

FFS, why have you sent me this comment? The person asking the question stated they'd had a twenty day overstay. more than 90 days, 1 year ban. They said there overstay was 20 days, so because the minimum on the chart you've pasted says starting at 90 days, I'd presume that anything less than 90 days would only incur a fine and no ban. Christ I need to stop using this shite.

I'm not looking for anything, just confirming that as you say inheritance is not classed as earned income, so why should pensions be. FFS

Why are cynics on here thinking the DTV might be tightened up and what do they mean by tightened up? They could scrap it if they wanted, making any visas already given null & void. More conspiracy theorists on here than in the Kremlin 😂😂😂. Waiting with bated breath now for the keyboard warriors.

I'd email the visa section email address first, explain that you had a twenty day overstay and the reason you were waiting for a new passport to arrive, therefore I presume you couldn't of left anyway. I also presume that you declared your overstay when leaving at the airport, paid the fine and left. In my opinion it would only have a bearing on your application for a DTV if you'd been arrested by police or immigration police. I reckon once you explain in an email, you'll be ok. Better to get confirmation before you apply and pay over £200, which if refused they don't refund for failed applications.

John, if as you say inheritance doesn't count as income, that'd I presume because because it's not classed as earned income, if that is correct, then pensions are not classed as earned income. Will be interesting to find out which is correct. Probably won't find out until any expats comment on their dealings with Thai tax dept., or a tax consultant next year.
