Too many people think it’s just the flu until its too late. Get tested as soon as you can (only costs like 300 thb at most gov hospitals) and for damn sure don’t wait it out with kids 😞.

In Ubon there are a few places but this (link below) is where most go.

Just a fyi unless you already have it sorted out. Better make sure your appointment at the embassy to get your “free to marry” affidavit doesn’t conflict with your schedule. They don’t even open up the calendar for appointments until the last week of the previous month. Depending on the district you marry and the paperwork delays it could cause an issue. An agent could prob sort out the wait though. Congrats BTW! PS, the Chiang Mai consulate is a little better at getting an earlier appointment but not by much. I would imagine they don’t carry the same staff numbers as the Bangkok Embassy despite fewer visits.

appreciate it either way. Ultimately I’ll have to get a lawyer on both sides involved and get as many state/fed reps to “help”. Any info here or elsewhere just helps me prepare myself with some knowledge and insight before I spend $$$ getting started. Immihelp and Visa Journey forums are so inundated with posts at this point post-Covid that I think mods there have just started creating stickies because even members aren’t answering posts anymore.

heard the same and believe me I would go that route if it weren’t for the fact that if we don’t get married before the child is born and/or I legitimize the child post-birth whilst unmarried (a 3 month process I’ve heard) and then I die there’s hardly a chance for the child, much less the mother to receive my SS death benefits/payments. I don’t even think my current company life insurance will allow me to post them as beneficiaries either. Add to that my job isn’t the most safe either which is another reason why I’d like to have this taken care of. I’m ok with the wait since we never really intend on the child going to school in the states any way. This is all just a means of allowing me more time to work and not having to leave for Thailand every year to 18 months.

I would but we need to be married here for my childs birth to be legitimized so I can start the citizenship process, passport for the child.

yeah those 15min appointment dates at the embassy are taken months in advance. I don’t think I can get it done in Chiang Mai either. Some have said on other forums that certain amphurs don’t require it and some do. I’ll know for sure after this holiday is up.

thanks! I appreciate it! I just don’t have the funds available to do runs or visas that require funds with a child on the way and saving up for the US visa and interviews. If I can get the back to back extensions I think I’ll be ok until I can afford to stay longer! Thanks!!

Knight Visa is the only agency I’ve ever been recommended but never used/needed. You might be better off joining the Ubon Expats group and inquiring there or literally walking into the immigration office and asking for a recommendation.

First time in 10 years I’ve ever heard of any consulate and/or immigration officer require a digital correlation of a financial record for a tourist visa.

And you were out within 20 minutes of the gate opening at the busiest Thai consulate on the planet?
