seems like a huge pain to apply for, I looked at going to get a tourist visa at neigboring embassies however you need an appointment at all of them now, and i guess fixers take them all then try to sell them back to you? just seems like a giant pain in the ass vs. just being able to go and apply
Thank you, that makes sense. Do they typically just outright refuse you at the border, or to just say, ok last one? I'm not looking to stay past that then, I've just been decompressing after a few hard covid years. Thank you for any info!
Update: solo trip with the driver was a total nightmare, guy had no idea we even needed to cross the border so probably better to use an experienced service vs. some random driver. However, once there, I found some Russian guys who told me what I needed to do, and was able to cross and come back with no problem. Was asked for a bribe of 1300b by the Thai officers, was not in the mood to argue so I paid. Arrived late around 3pm, there was no wait on either side. Would probably just do a few days trip to Singapore instead if I had to do it again but it was doable if painful.
I'm hiring a private driver, and I wouldn't have time to spend the night in Malaysia since I'd have to find another way back. If it's not possible to come back the same day then I'd rather take a flight to SG, that's why I'm trying to find out if it doable.
thank you, that's good to hear! Any idea there's any issues with being asked to pay extra fees if I'm not going via a visa run company? Some online reports say the company acts as a fixer whereas they might ask for more bribes if you go on your own.
