yeh you Should be fine to do this from an embassy not in your hometown country. Number 7 on the application you would just upload proof of residency in the U.K. I.e passport I believe

you cannot change a tourist visa into an ED visa in country at present but maybe by the time my tourist visa ends the quarantine will have dropped so then can do a visa run. At this moment in time my plan is now to fly to Thailand on 26th December and have 3 months there. Fly back to the U.K. for a month or 6 weeks and then fly back to Thailand with an ED visa and start my course because although I was meant to start on 18th January they are allowing me to change the start date to whenever suits

I have been heavily following this as I have all the documents from the school and ministry of education to apply for an ED visa but as they aren’t being issued I am applying for a tourist visa instead. The embassy told me they anticipate it would be a few months before issuing ED visa’s again but were unsure. It could be sooner but could be longer

yeh I’m not going to lie that statement really p****d me off when it was said. It was said as if we had started the virus

Yeh what they are trying to do it open to tourists but only attract a limited number as they don’t have enough ASQ hotels to allow everyone in so this is a way to control the amount of applications that are processed. I’m guessing this will get reduced over time if there aren’t enough applications or have minimal new cases arise in Thailand

@Jackaline *******
but then how would that reduce the tourist visa applications as insurance is affordable and having £12,800 in a current account for the last 6 months isn’t
Jim ********
@Jackaline *******
comprehensive insurance and no quarantine? That would be foolish given the hard work Thailand have done over the last 8 months

yeh you have to provide bank statements for the last 6 months. I’m lucky and can produce statements but a lot can’t. It has been put in place to stop a mass amount of applications as the country doesn’t have enough ASQ hotel rooms to cope if there wasn’t some sort of financial requirement
