I am returning to Thailand on 23rd and will have had ONE vaccination of Oxford–AstraZeneca — does anyone know if it’s possible to get the second shot in Bangkok and costs ??

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the feasibility of receiving a second dose of the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine in Bangkok after having received the first dose. Community comments indicate that currently, the vaccine distribution is mainly through government channels, with private hospitals possibly offering vaccinations later. There is uncertainty about immediate availability and whether foreigners can get the vaccine simultaneously with locals. Some users recommend waiting to complete the vaccination before traveling to Thailand to avoid quarantine issues, while others discuss the potential for vaccinations to be available free for foreigners.

I don’t know the timing of your first jab relative to your proposed flight. Be careful because I was quite ill after my first jab and wouldn’t have been well enough to fly until about 5 days after the jab. I also had a mild headache for 4 weeks but not enough to take medication for.
After my second jab I felt no effects at all. Personally I’d wait until after the second jab if possible.
Good luck.

They need to be taken 12 weeks apart, right? So are you staying in Thailand? Then I would try to find out closer to the second date, things change so quickly.
no, ideaal certainly not. Only Pfizer and Moderna 3-4 weeks apart. Astrazeneca is a different vaccin that needs longer to develop before the second dose.
if you can choose which one, I would choose Janssen. Just one shot needed, no strange side effeccts as far as we know. Really handy. Also called Johnson and Johnson.
got no choice it as decided by Singapore goverment was actually surprised i qualified now as i am not a Singapore resident, but marine sector is considered front line and makes easier to get back to Thailand.

Thank you for the up-to-date info...Mind you, I am stuck in Ireland waiting to get back to Thailand and it's da** cold and wet (and expensive)...555...When I do get back I'll be doing less moaning and just live "one day at a time"...and be grateful.

Tom Jones the rush is a coup D Etat and m not staying here to save 3 days quarantine
From what I can gather the Astra Zenica vaccine will be used here, but it is difficult to know who will get it ie it will possibly be reserved for quarantine and healthcare workers and the most vulnerable, with everyone else being given the Chinese produced Sinovac. Also not clear whether foreigners will be able to get it at the same time as Thai people or only after Thai people are vaccinated. Some reports have said vaccines will be available free to foreigners. If anything it is possible that foreigners will be vaccinated in age groups with similarly aged Thai people ie elderly and those with comorbidities first, along with those in front line roles, young and healthy later. Nothing has been announced re whether there will be any choice re the brand of vaccine given. There is some speculation that the vaccines will be available for a price at private hospitals ie Pfizer/Moderna, but nothing official relating to this has been announced

The app, expected to launch on 1st May, allows users to book their free jabs at designated state hospitals and public health stations, from June.
which vaccine — I thjnk the Oxford will be in Thailand but I am not sure how long the interval can be. In any case it’s free so I don’t have much to loose/ I might try explaining that I have to leave 20 days after first shot - maybe they will assist
I'm confused how you are getting covid vaccinations in Myanmar. I work at a school in Myanmar (am out of country, but we do still have plenty of teachers there who would love a vaccine,) but we've been told no covid vaccines until at least the summer. Where did you find the vaccine?

To answer the question you actually asked, Sinovac is the only vaccine available right now. Astra Zenaca will be here in a month or 2. Vaccines being offered to Thai nationals in hospitality and tourism first and foreigners holding work permits and under 60 years of age. You will not be able to get Astra Zenaca right away.
if you can screenshot anything official looking about vaccinations being offered in Yangon. Having trouble confirming your information. Is info in Myanmar only? Very surprised our local staff haven’t mentioned it. TIA.
Never did I say I did not believe you. I just can’t find the info, nor have any of the multiple people I worked with seen this info. I’d love nothing more than to find out it’s true.
You asked other individuals for help with information you could not find. I was doing the same.
Someone here could have just told you to call a hospital to find the info you are looking for, as you are telling me.....
? Is it because they don't know or just scared to get out due to current situation. My friends elderly parents haven't been out the house since March. I'm sure they would have jumped at the chance if they had known.
free at south Okkalapa hospital already started and was also at convention center @ 3 weeks ago. Free for foreigners as well so ur employer is not giving u the real story
Thanks. I know a lot of people who will be happy with this news. Information is hard to come by. I would not blame my employer at all. Enough to worry about with fake rumors of snipers in the neighborhood.
it looks like my condo are also arranging shots for tenants — makes sense because a case would mean the entire complex would be locked down — even mu last local condo had me on their list
UES I read it starts efficiency @ day 12 and increases effectiveness thereafter but I am not sure it would be valid if Ie the duration between was 2-3 months while Thailand gets its act together
yes i think may as well get your first shot if you can and even the first provides some immunity. I wouldn't expect to get the second in Thailand any time soon though.

It probably would be effective but you'd need to do the full course of the other vaccine, not just a second shot.
Paul Prescott. I did read somewhere that Thailand had either ordered or had received the Oxford vaccine, so there's a good chance it'll be available when vaccines are opened to foreigners. Probably not a good idea to mix them. I did that once with Scotch and Vodka and it wasn't pretty! 🤣
thanks but flights are not easy to find so I’ll take the risk - m in Myanmar— worst case is I still have to do two in Bangkok — it’s free here anywhere
hey Paul, Phuket announced yesterday on the Thaigar, that they will be vaccinating foreigners. So I presume the vaccine will be available to buy privately, sometime before July (when they’re beginning the sandbox scheme). Talk to private hospitals in Phuket and Bangkok.
