That’s not allowed with the new online system as far as I know. They require proof that you’re in the relevant consulate jurisdiction.

Unfortunately they say their hands are tied until they get the right doc from immigration.

. I don't actually ever stay long-term in Thailand but pop in for a few days or a couple weeks (always by air) while doing work in nearby countries. There used to be a technical limit because I was warned to get a real visa once many years ago. (Maybe it was number of days spent in-country within a certain window rather than number of entries.) Just trying to see if there's currently any actual rule that someone can cite for me so I can do the math based on my recent and upcoming planned entries/stays. I can also just get a non-immigrant visa, but would have to jump through some hoops.

guess we have different experiences. I’ve used iPhones since the 5. They’ve always been unlocked, paid off with the US carrier or not. Just swap out the sim. Did exactly this in Thailand with my latest iPhone from late last year. Have done this in several countries besides Thailand over the years. Just buy your sim at the airport or 7. They know what to do.

If you take a taxi no need to go to/from bus station. Taxi will also stop if you need to eat, etc. Bus doesn’t stop. Taxi you are only exposed to a driver. Bus you have other potential covid exposures.

Flag a taxi. If they will go, discuss price. About 1200 is fair. Tip 100 if they do a good job. Don’t mess with bus or van. 2 hours or less from downtown. If they quote you higher go to the next taxi. And if you’re cheap you may be able to get it lower.
