What should I do if I'm facing a visa block due to an old issue with Thai immigration?

Just checking to see if anybody has suggestions for me. Applied for non-immigrant O (in the US) and they tell me there is a block on granting me this visa, apparently due to a passport I lost/got stolen in Thailand about twenty years ago. Say I need to get a letter from immigration clearing me first. Anybody had this issue? Any solutions that don't involve being on the ground in Bangkok? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user has encountered a visa block while applying for a non-immigrant O visa in the US, attributed to a past passport issue from twenty years ago in Thailand. They need to obtain a letter from Thai immigration to proceed but are seeking alternatives that do not require being in Bangkok. Community comments express frustration over the situation and suggest hiring an agency to assist.

That’s not allowed with the new online system as far as I know. They require proof that you’re in the relevant consulate jurisdiction.

Unfortunately they say their hands are tied until they get the right doc from immigration.

if you've had multiple non-O since then I would bring that up and ask them if they can re-check.

I’m on my third passport since then, have entered dozens of times and have had about ten non-immigrant Os in the intervening years.
