No Police checks when you apply in Thailand Jeff, and no medical certificate required either.

I've tried twice at Tesco Lotus to use my Union Pay Card. Even the check out folks were surprised. And this is in sight of the Bangkok Bank Branch, just a few yards away, in my local Tesco. They just suggested I go to the ATM to get cash. It pissed the people off a bit in the queue behind me!
