I think he's replying to your comment. And I guess he knows you talk about the UK, which is why he says "in the USA.....". And it actually his comment makes perfect sense.

we are not talking about our money, so hardly trolling, as perhaps you are doing so now. So the gentleman OP is asking why the need for lawyers involvement when proving himself the father (as you need to do if you are not married to a thai). It is the OP's reply to a comment of "that is too much for me", that concerns people including myself, that if he doesn't have 20,000 baht for such a need, what will he do all through the child's early life, 16-18 years, each time there is a need for just 20,000 baht. What if serious illness or injury or accident to any of the family, causing himself or someone to be unable to work, and earn an income ? Certainly they won't be getting married then, could be a problem for some. But most importantly, is the child going to be raised in almost poverty. Just because a lot of the country lives in poverty, doesn't make it ok, and certainly not fair to chose to bring a child into this world. Toys, clothes, holidays - no chance. Education and healthcare. And how will that child end up at 20-30-40 years old. In the UK we laugh at how it is so much easier to have a child, than it is to adopt a pet dog. My own sister refused an adoption of a stray dog, yet has two children herself. Refused an adoption of a stray dog as not suitable, but she could go and conceive or give birth to a child the very next day without a question asked. Back to your point, you say "no-one asking about education" - does that mean everyone's concerns are not real, or don't matter ? This is now the point of serious concern, and far outweighs the original post of "do I really need a lawyer" which should say "I can't afford one, so do I need a lawyer to prove I'm the father". You then also say "thai kids can go to thai school" and yes of course they literally can, nobody said they can't. I think this has gone above your head, maybe due to the language. What the dude says is like, that there will be so many problems arising from a thai kid with farang parent, either at school, due to not speaking fluent thai, as much english is spoken at home, or problems at home and family life, mostly in communicating with the father, as they only speak little English. And let's not forget, the guys English is not very good. So they will learn English at home, from someone who speaks not the best English. What nationality are you ? Do you know any farang with kids in thai school.

Which do you think offers the best all round education ? Thai school or international school ?

And with many of the major benefits not being directly 'educational', the question should be "which offers a child the best opportunity in life, thai school or international school".

What would you want for yourself ?

What would you want for you child ?

Do you now get the point ?

I'd be concerned for myself if I didn't have 20k baht for any need, but to bring a child into the world knowing this, is quite wrong.

I don't need to insult you with petty, veiled and passive-aggresive insults. 👍

who is talking about money ? Who is stating their wealth, claiming to be rich ? We are just saying the true factual costs of an international school education. if you think a child has the same opportunity of success going to Thai school, compared with international school, then that shows a lack of education, intelligence, and common sense by yourself. then I'm sorry for your kids.

yes of course the child can go to school, a government run/funded Thai language only Thai school. So the kids development is already behind his alternative (internationally schooled) self by having this lower level of education. To stand any chance of greatness, they'll need to be the top of their class, the top of their year, so they'll need to be absolutely fluent in Thai, or they'll struggle and end up in the bottom class, with naughty kids and those with learning difficulties. So imagine the parents you're going to meet on parents day, school sports day etc, that's if the parents are known, and not in jail, or drunk/high on those days. Imaging you and your girlfriend are busy on a day, unable to collect the kid. Don't worry because a classmates dad can pick them up and drop them home, once he's used your child as a decoy on a drugs run from the next province. He's high/drunk, got no licence or insurance, a history of child sex abuse and a car full of Crystal meth. Are you starting to get the picture ? Can you just imagine the kids and the parents you will encounter ? Well that is your child's life for 10-11 years. If the child is female, she'll end up as a sex worker, or in 7-11, or a beauty technician in a nail shop. If it's a boy, he'll end up a woman, or motorbike mechanic. Now imagine the same at an international school. The school facilities, the international and English speaking teachers with western standards and expectations, The intelligent, inspirational and English speaking classmates, and their pleasant and responsible and trustworthy parents, mostly still together in a relationship, few with any criminal record, local or international business owners, well connected, with people in high places, and willing to help out the parents of their kids classmate. Possibly even make lifetime friends, the kids AND you. Imagine the sleepovers. Even though you don't think you'll need any of this, it's nice to have it there incase.

Also, I'll guess that you don't speak much Thai, and yes the kids can pick up words eventually, but how will you really communicate and express yourself and your feelings and such and how will they ?. I'm sure you may have noticed that is missing from conversations with your partner. I say 'conversation' but it's not really now is it.

the OP not interested in international school ? Or the child themselves ? Do you have or know anyone with children in government school ?
