Amazing how the foreigners get fleeced paying a fortune for an ex bar girl with two kids and tattoos. Most are clueless. Nothing against the women who are sweet and just have it tough, but you are right. Thai men don't want those womenso they seek and find foreign men and say "Thai man no good!"
Just remember. No Thai man in history paid sin sot or dowry for a bar girl, woman with kids, or uneducated farm girl.( Even though they are sweet hearts!) Why should you? Only foreigners do this!
