it's just that roti here are served up as a sweet. My go-to in Thailand is a larp or narmtock pork but not always easy to find in food markets. But we mainly cook at home. A lentil dal would be nice. Never seen lentils in the shops. Bet I won't have any trouble finding them in kl.
it has me intrigued why. For example roti in Thailand is a banana with sweet milk which I would never buy. Just across the border it's served with a curry.
I spent the day there once from bkk 10 years ago. Thought it was very ordinary as a tourist destination and quiet. I believe it's somewhat different at night.
I would have thought most Thais were indifferent, too busy with their own lives. Except for the few who are involved in the tourist industry of course and then generally I find them welcoming. Especially if you can speak a word of Thai.
40 years ago we stayed at Central Guest House for about 40 baht a night. Small rooms separated with plywood. It's still there and looks exactly the same
yes we stayed there in May. It's situated in the old city close to the royal palace, sunamluang and Tamasaad University Ave govt buildings. The breakfast when I was there catered for the Chinese guests. It was ok. There are no shopping malls and street food is hard to find. It's close to the infamous kaosan road which like most things in Thailand comes alive at night.
