Just finished watching the Thai news. First they showed a tiger clear. Then a liger but blurred out. Any reasons why. I know they like to pixelate guns on tv, but first time I see for animals.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Thai news often pixelates or blurs images of certain animals, particularly exotic or endangered species, to avoid promoting illegal wildlife trade and to adhere to ethical standards. In this case, while a tiger was shown clearly, the liger might have been blurred due to its potential connection to these issues or because of copyright concerns.

I asked Meta AI the question. That's an interesting observation! In Thailand, it's common for media outlets to blur or pixelate images of animals, especially exotic or endangered species, to avoid promoting or glorifying illegal wildlife trade or exploitation. This is likely the reason why the liger was blurred out, while the tiger was shown clearly. The blurring is a way to adhere to ethical and legal guidelines, as well as to raise awareness about wildlife conservation and protection. Additionally, it's possible that the liger was blurred out due to copyright or ownership issues related to the image or footage used in the news broadcast.

and believe it or not this is a fairly recent thing. When I first started travelling here in the early 90’s saw some very graphic stuff on the news here. And I never knew when it was coming because I didn’t speak Thai.😂😂

No it was moving around the room. Not mistreated or anything like that.

They don't want you harassing this liger if you see it on the streets.
