Good afternoon!

I submitted my documents for Non-B 1 year extension along with my wife's Non-o extension in Samut Prakarn immigration. Today was the day to get the stamp for 1 year extension, and after waiting for some time Samutprakarn immigration told, they are ok with documents but Chaengwattana office wants to check all the documents again. Thus, put a stamp again to come back on 28th October. This is the first time we are encountering this.

Is it normal? or randomly they just picked to checked again ?

Hey folks,

I really appreciate all the great help you’ve been dishing out this year. Wondering if you could go a little further and help clarify a few things for my situation as well. Currently in Chiang Rai. I was on an ED visa that expired back in June. I had one more extension, however immigration said they would not honor it and so I moved onto amnesty thereafter. My girlfriend and I opted to pursue the marriage visa, followed through with the marriage and began fulfilling all the necessary requirements to obtain the marriage visa.

We were able to fulfill all the requirements except for the 60 day bank requirement as that date would fall in mid-November. To cover this, we were going to request a 60 day family visit stamp to get us over that time. This was suggested by multiple accounts on here (thought not specifically ED visa related) as well as officials at two separate offices (multiple officers saying they would grant us this stamp). Seemed like a done deal.

We were told that we would have to cancel the ED visa before the stamp could be granted, which we did. However, when the time came to sit down with the officer they said they were in fact unable to grant us the 60 day visit stamp. The issue was the fact that it was an ED visa that was to be used for one year and typically are required to leave after. I was told that I would have to leave Thailand, return to the US and obtain a 3-month family visit visa. I was able to move onto the 30 day extension stamp in lieu of the 60 day stamp.

My first question is: Is this correct and in line with other’s experiences? Am I really at this time unable to pursue the marriage visa through the 60 day stamp because of my previous visa type? Though not unbelievable, I’m just a little surprised since multiple officials in different offices all said it was something that could be done. Or is this a fluke that can be amended?

My other question is: If it is in fact time to head back home next month, does anyone have experience re-entering from the United States during this period? What was it like gathering the health specific documents required to re-enter? Any reliable resources that I could be pointed towards to find rapid COVID testing back in the US?

Obtaining the 3-month visa will be straightforward enough. It’s the extra materials I am having difficulty finding accurate accounts online to reference. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

As always, I really appreciate the work you all do. Mods, please DM me where I can send you beer money. You deserve as much Chang or Singha as you can drink for all the question answering you’ve handled this year.

Thanks so much!

SMART VISA

are there people who applied for the smart visa, getting the announcement after the 26th and don’t get a letter from the embassy to extend the current visa?

I am curious how you solve this and if anyone has experience about extending the current visa with the paper from smartvisa.

With the 90day reporting deadline today I have a question...

I am currently on amnesty with my non-o multi extension that expired last June. Last thursday i went to Phuket immigration to do the 90 day reporting to make sure im following the rules. The officer said that my stamp expired and told me to go upstairs where you normally go upstairs for family extensions.

When I went upstairs the foreigner officer explained to me that since I dont qualify for additional extensions (which I knew) and that because of that I dont need to do a 90 day reporting.

Is that correct? I was under the impression that everyone must do a 90day reporting that has been under amnesty.

I’ve transferred my 400k and this will be seasoned fully on September 15th.

My stamp expired on the 28th of May and I’m on amnesty , my 1 year NON imm O multi entry visa based on marriage expires on 18th Aug.

My Plan now is to wait until 15th September when my 400k is fully seasoned and apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage.

Now I’m hearing I can’t do this as I’ve been on amnesty you can’t transfer to 1 year marriage from amnesty.

Is this correct or does my current plan seem correct ???

I'm still in awe how you guys keep answering so many questions. I apologise in advance for posting another.

I am married to a Thai we have two children dual nationality Thai/British.

We originally arrived on January 17 for a two week holiday for Chinese New Year. Visa on arrival. Extended this for 30 days then did a land run to Laos 30 more days - extended this to family visit 60 days - expired June 7.

The plan was always to return to my job in China. However the contract was terminated in June. I will hopefully find work here.

I believe I qualify for a non O dependent visa. Is there anyway that this can be done without leaving the country?

Also, I am sorry that this is speculation, could you see a scenario in which immigration would deport a father in the current crisis, or would common sense prevail?

Thanks for your suggestions.

I am currently in Bangkok on amnesty. My tourist visa (METV) stamp expired May 18th. I've read a bit about visa conversion to ED education visas, but I believe that requires I have days left on my stamp. Is there any possibility of using an ED visa in my situation to stay in Thailand beyond July 31st? I don't want to enroll in a university, I'd prefer to do a Muay Thai ED visa or language school.
