Hi everyone. I am sorry if this question has been asked before. I have been living in Thailand since 2020, first with and Education Visa and then with extensions of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. Now I am on my second extension and with my wife we will be leaving Thailand in June. Does my extension need to be cancelled in person, or it will be automatically cancelled when I exit Thailand?
Since we are returning to Thailand after March 2023 (the expiration date of my extension), getting a re-entry permit is not an option for me. In this case, can I come as a tourist and go from visa exemption (I hold a Chilean passport) to an extension of stay based on marriage (or should I get the extension based on visiting family first to be able to do this)? I know I can also apply for a visa based on marriage in a Thai Consulate abroad. Does it need to be the Thai Consulate in my country of origin (Chile), or can it be in any country? Since this visa is granted, is there a standard period of time within which I must enter Thailand? And finally, is there a money requirement for this kind of visa (as there is to apply for the extension of stay based on marriage within Thailand)? I hope I made myself clear. Thanks in advance :)
