TLDR : Answer Summary
A user holding a Chilean passport was denied a border run at Mae Sai and is seeking advice as their tourist visa is about to expire. Multiple comments clarify that due to the bilateral agreement, Chilean nationals cannot perform a border run to extend their stay in Thailand and must instead fly out to get a new visa stamp. Experiences shared include flying out to Laos and returning to ensure a longer stay in Thailand.

thanks for the update. I deleted the discussion about prices of flights. Remember this page is for Thai visa advice. Go off topic and the post gets closed. Keep on doing this on different topics and your days of comments and replies are also coming to an end.

UPDATE: Just fly out and back 8500 bath on expenses,1300 bath for Laos visa(to stay 1 hr on Laos) and come back, works smooth, get 90days more. Not the cheapest but aparently a super sure bet. ๐Ÿ˜“

, AFAIK, none of the people from countries that get 90 day visa exempt entries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, South Korea) can bounce out and back in at the burma borders for a new 90 day stamp .

I think the Lao border (Chiang Khong to Huay Xai) in Chiang Rai allows it (but am not sure)..

Your safest bet would be to fly.

I guess you are inside Thailand on the 90 day entry you got due the bilateral agreement.

I have Chilean Passport also, you can't do border run, because they give 60 days in total per year by land. As we have 90 days, just with one border run we exceed the limit, so we need to fly out and back.

To get another 90 days by bilateral agreement flying out and in is the best option. I'm not sure about Chili but if you search this page about it, there are some reports of people also having the 90 day bilateral agreement could make a crossing at Nong Khai border to Laos.

Richard Momberg Loaiza Can u fly-out and back in and get another 90 days?

Maybe Chilean cannot get the visa exempt, that would explain why u got denied. I don't think they have ever denied anyone for any reason other than ur nationality does not permit the visa exempt (and obv the 2 per year land border run).
