Hi, was wondering if anyone has applied for the DTV from Chile or South America? Any recommendations?

Im planning to move to Thailand in january, I have 2 questions:

1. When should I apply for it? Will 3 months be ok?

2. Once I get the visa, do I have to arrive in the country at a specific time or date?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat inquiring about the DTV visa details from Chile received responses indicating that applications can be made online through the Thai consulate in Santiago. They were advised to check processing times on the embassy's website and that typically a 3-month application window is adequate. Once the visa is granted, it is valid for entry any time within 5 years without a specified arrival date. Additional tips included the requirement to download and print the approved visa for entry into Thailand.

Any idea about the processing times / price and requirements for Santiago? Here in Panama atm and that is the closest embassy. I can travel elsewhere to apply. I leave Panama for Thailand at the end of the month and just hopeful it will get processed in time,

Thanks man. I see that it is an online application. Once approved would I need to travel to Chile to pick my Visa up or does it live as an online document I reference once entering Thailand? I'm a little confused as it seems it works differently for different embassies.

Cheers Tod!

You apply online, from where you are now, (panama) using the eVisa website you upload the documents, you pay, they email you a PDF file that is the visa, you print that out and show it with your passport when you stamp in to thailand

Check the embassy website to see their visa processing times. You can enter anytime within 5 years if your visa is approved, typically within 3 months is the norm.
