I am working in a reputed company as head of the dept. My contract is valid till 31 May and visa ending on 04 June 2025. Recently I moved my family to Thailand on Non O, 3 months visa which is ending on 07th April. Now to get the extension I need documents from the company which they are denying as we have mutually agreed to part ways after 31st May. I have tried to change the visa from Non O to Non ED via school where I have enrolled my kids but they are saying immigration cannot transfer Non O to Non ED without exiting the country and coming back either on tourist visa which is not feasible due to the high cost.
What are my legal options? I m still the employee till 31st May and cannot get the new job before that so I cannot sponsor my family which is a bit stressful. Isn't it against the basic human rights?
Having lived and worked in Thailand for 15 years on a non-imm visa with a work permit in Chonburi area I will soon be retiring and want to convert to a 'retirement' visa and live in Buriram.
Any advice on what I need to do please?
Also does the 800k need to be in bank for 12 months when I convert visas?
Im currently staying on a business visa in Thailand and have quit my job few weeks ago. Normally my employer would have to cancel the work permit in order for me to cancel the visa, right? However since my work permit is expiring end of this month anyway, my employer just wrote me a letter of termination of employment for the same day and said i can just cancel my visa at the immigration and ignoring the wp process.
I quit job last month and requested my employer to cancel my extension after 30 days so I can travel and relax a before leaving the kingdom, to which they agreed. Just now I came to know that they have already cancelled my work permit last week without informing me , the work permit and passport is in my custody though. Am I overstayed???
What are my options now? Should I go to immigration and get an overstay stamp OR leave the country without doing anything (At least I won't get a red stamp on my passport with this option)
Hello everyone. I made a post about this a while ago and I have a follow up question. First a little recap. I am in the process of switching jobs and I informed my employer I want to quit about 2 weeks ago. I am currently staying on an extension based on employment. My employer agreed that I can stop showing up to work on the day that I informed them that I want to quit. My employer told me that they would provide me with a document that I can use to cancel my work permit. However my employer does not seem to want to actually provide me with it. They seem to be giving me the run around. It is my understanding that I must report to the labor department the same day that my employment ends. So my question… is it possible to cancel work permits on your own? Without documents from your employer? So that I can go on and create a new one with my next job. Is it normal for it to take 2 weeks+ to sign a resignation letter in Thailand?
In the situation of a person getting dismissed from work without notice. What steps should they take to get converted onto an Extension of Stay due to C19. The Non-B visa expires in March 2022 and the employer is expected to try and cancel said visa soon. How long are the legally supposed to give in this case?
Can one go to immigration and convert the visa themselves or is there paperwork need from the school to do so? TIA
I am on an extension of stay with a work permit. My employer wants to terminate my employment and has given me until June 14th to sort things out. I have been in Koh Phangan and have my TM 30 registered there, but a since my extension and work permit were issued in Chiang Mai, I was told I have to return to Chiang Mai in order to get those cancelled. I am on my way back to Chiang Mai now, but would like to return to KP as soon as possible, so I have some questions about if/how that would be possible...1) How long after my current extension of stay is cancelled will I have to apply for the new extension? 2) If I have to apply right away (from CM), will I need to register a new TM30 in Chiang Mai? 3) If I receive the “under consideration” stamp for the Covid extension in CM, will I have to return to CM immigration for the final stamp, or could I get it in KP? 4) If I get the final stamp for the Covid extension in CM and I want to apply for another Covid extension or a new visa in the future, will I have to return to CM again or could I apply for the new visa/extension from KP? I’m sorry for such a long post. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated 🙏
When someone is on a Non b / Work Permit, and decides to leave that job, is the Non b visa automatically cancelled, alongside the work permit, or is it cancelled after it was originally set to expire, at the end of the contract?
