Am I Overstayed If My Work Permit Is Canceled After My Employment Ends?

Hello all. Clarification and help please.

I have a work permit + extension of stay (both valid until Aug 2020).

My hotel closed and my employment will be terminated, last day on April 30.

Our HR said they have 15 days to cancel my WP and they wish to do that on May 15th as a 'consideration' for me to stay longer because of the current situation.

My question, if they cancel my WP on 15th May (and of course I have to cancel my extension of stay on the same day), am I already overstayed because my last day of work is April 30?

When is the best time I shall do the cancellation of WP and extension of stay?

Thanks much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on their visa status after their employment ends and their work permit is canceled. They want to know if they will be considered overstayed if their work permit is canceled on May 15, while their last day of work is April 30.

nope you're not gonna be on overstay :) If they cancel your work permit on the 15th you go that day and cancel your extension and that's the day your extension stops.

You need to have the embassy letter stating you can't travel due to covid-19 ready to apply for the emergency extension OR all you'll get from that date would be a 7 day get out of thailand in a week stamp.

thank you, but let me just ask one more....the termination letter says last day is April 30. That doesn't matter if they do the cancellation on 15th May?
