My work termination letter is dated 3Feb.

So it's correct that I can cancel my work permit AND extension of stay (based on non imm b) tomorrow/before 3 Feb, get a stamp for 3Feb then make plans to exit thailand on/before 3Feb??

And to cancel ext of stay = passport, termination letter + WP cancellation proof?

Cheers

(Based in Bangkok so will be using Ministry of Labor Din Daeng and CW)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the proper procedure for cancelling their work permit and extension of stay in Thailand, given their termination letter is dated February 3. Comments indicate that while it should be possible to cancel before this date, there may be variations in policy depending on the local Ministry of Labor and Immigration Office's practices. It's recommended to cancel around a week prior, but confirmation from local offices is necessary for the exact timing.

unlikely you can apply cancellation more than 2 weeks (2 weeks would be 20th Jan). How many days in advance you can cancel possibly differs depending on the office in your province.

Thanks for your thoughts. I've phoned immigration but they seem to vary their stories with each phone call. Nothing like consistency within an organisation 🤯🤯

Oooh a Grey area. Personally I would cancel around 7 days before your intended departure.

Those 7days to leave is not automatically given even you are applying cancellation on the very last day.

And as long as you want to come back and seeking long term visa/extension in your (near) future, you need to cancel your extension. You will be face overstay (not officially cancel your extension) and trouble to apply new one.

Not the best way to do it, but it didn't really have any repercussions for me on subsequent visits to Thailand on tourist visa exempt visits.

Rob or Tod may offer different advice here and that maybe more knowledgeable than mine. But the way I experienced this, you cancel WP then have a very limited amount of time to cancel the extension. Where upon you will then be given 7 days to exit.

In theory yes, i do not know where and how many days before the actual date you can cancel in at your local Ministry of Labor and Immigration Office, but they will tell you.
