Hi! Not for myself, but for a friend in a bit of a sticky situation:

My friend has worked for one month at a school and has now decided that for various reasons the school is not a good fit for her. She has found another job and wants to leave her current job without notice immediately, in order to leave the country and apply for a new non-b and WP3 for the new job.

She was under the impression she is on a probationary period at school where either party can terminate the contract at any time (up until 3 months, which she as not worked).

Her (current) school are now threatening to get her "blacklisted from immigration" (their literal words, I assume they mean the country) if she does not continue to work for them.

She is currently on a non-b (not extension), and was planning to have her work permit and visa cancelled tomorrow in order to leave on Thursday.

Is it possible for the school to get my friend blacklisted for quitting her job? The language of her contract is more ambiguous than originally thought but it does still state that there is a 3 month probationary period.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend is considering quitting her teaching job at a school in Thailand during her probationary period, without notice, to take a new job. The current school has threatened to blacklist her from immigration. The situation raises questions about the school's legal options and the validity of their threats.

And unfortunately it doesn't really qualify as a thai VISA question.

Good Luck.

To walk out without any notice as a Teacher does leave the school in a real bind. The staff and students suffer too IMHO. A compromise should be sought.

The stated 90 days probationary period is mutually agreed .....both parties should comply.

Did you actually receive a work permit during your probationary period?

As for any actions with Thai Immigration, more bluff than reality.

I agree and so does she, it's just been a series of unfortunate circumstances with the current school being unpleasant and a new job opportunity arising that is too good for her to pass up. She has reccomended someone avaliable to replace her pretty much immediately which still isn't ideal but the school is.. Well. Making threats.

She does have a work permit but has not yet extended her visa using it.
