Hello all. I went to immigration today to apply for a 30 day extension, and it seems my previous employer never cancelled my old visa. My contract ended on July 30, but the visa is still valid until September 30. Do any of you know how one could cancel a non-imm B?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing an issue where their old Non-Immigrant B visa has not been cancelled by their previous employer despite their contract ending. To resolve this, they need to gather paperwork such as termination documents and proof of work permit cancellation from their former employer and the ministry of labor. Once they have these documents, they can visit the immigration office to cancel the old visa. It's important to note that the cancellation of the visa should be done to avoid potential fines for any overstay.

Ok, I'm getting confused, and I'm shutting this down.

1. Each immigration office does have slightly different policies and interpretation of the rules, so not mentioning the immigration office is no value.

2. It is (the collective) *YOUR* responsibility to cancel your extension of stay after the work permit is cancelled. When your work permit is cancelled, your extension of stay based on employment is (legally) cancelled at the same time.

3. If you don't cancel your extension of stay, there are punishments, which may include large fines.

I think the OP got the question answered. Good luck.

I had to pay 20,000 baht for 43 days overstay, because they count from the day the Work Permit is cancelled. It was the same - the visa wasn't cancelled by the employer. But the work permit was.

and the employee could not have cancelled the visa. However they could have cancelled the extension of stay based on employment.

That extension of stay based on employment is cancelled at the same time as the work permit

when was that and what immigration office?

@Benjamin *****
the agency cancelled my work permit on the 11th April, but I found it out only at the beginning of May. I went to Chonburi immigration office and they said you can use it. Yes, that was an extension. I crossed the border with Laos twice and no one saw that as a problem. Then I found job at another school and I got new NonB visa. But only when we went to extend it in Samut Prakan Immigration, they found those 43 days...

I wonder if it would be considered overstay now, since no one is overstaying.

I just cancelled my Visa yesterday. You will need the TM10 paper from your employer, passport and work permit. You will need to copy the front page and visa pages of your passport. And copy of your work permit 1st and 2nd page.

Contact your former employer, to get your termination paperwork, contact the ministry of labor to get the proof you cancelled your work permit, take those to the immigration office and cancel your old extension THEN apply for the 30 day embassy extension

Unfortunately for you, your previous employer is not obligated to cancel your extension of stay based on employment YOU are because its in YOUR passport. :O

You need to be talking to the immigration office, the ministry of Labor (the people that issued you your work permit) AND your former employer to get the documents you need to cancel that extension..
