Hello everyone. I made a post about this a while ago and I have a follow up question. First a little recap. I am in the process of switching jobs and I informed my employer I want to quit about 2 weeks ago. I am currently staying on an extension based on employment. My employer agreed that I can stop showing up to work on the day that I informed them that I want to quit. My employer told me that they would provide me with a document that I can use to cancel my work permit. However my employer does not seem to want to actually provide me with it. They seem to be giving me the run around. It is my understanding that I must report to the labor department the same day that my employment ends. So my question… is it possible to cancel work permits on your own? Without documents from your employer? So that I can go on and create a new one with my next job. Is it normal for it to take 2 weeks+ to sign a resignation letter in Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is in a situation where they are transitioning jobs in Thailand and has encountered difficulties in obtaining a necessary document from their current employer to cancel their work permit. They are seeking advice on whether it is possible to cancel a work permit independently without this documentation and questioning if it is common for resignation processes to take over two weeks in Thailand.
Have you received your last payment for work yet? Most of the time the letter is given at the same time as your last wage payment. Also, your visa extension ends the day you are terminated from that job. Immigration will usually give you a seven day extension to leave, or get a new job. For a new job you start all over.
There is no 7 day extension. It's a 7 day "extension denied" stamp to get out of the country if you apply for an extension. Once you have this stamp in your passport you MUST leave Thailand within those 7 days. There is no extension or conversion available from that stamp of death.
