So... My last day of work is Oct 2nd and my employer will provide a letter saying this. They say they will cancel my work permit on Oct 9.

1) Do I have to cancel my work permit myself or do they do it for me?

2) When do I cancel my nonB extension? Oct 2 or 9? 3) At immigration do I need to submit evidence that my work permit has been cancelled?

I'm in Bangkok FWIW

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
When ending your employment in Thailand, it's essential to understand the process of canceling your work permit and non-B visa extension. Your employer will provide a letter stating your last day of employment, and they will initiate the cancellation of your work permit on the specified date. However, it's advisable for you to personally cancel your work permit at the Ministry of Labour to ensure everything is in order. You should ideally cancel your non-B visa extension a few days before your last working day, presenting the cancellation receipt along with your termination letter at the immigration office.

why not take YOUR work permit (seeing as it has your name on it) go to the Ministry of Labour and cancel it, then take that receipt and the letter of termination from your company to the immigration office and cancel your extension a week or so BEFORE the last day you're scheduled to work. The immigration office will cancel your extension and then stamp you in until the 2nd of Oct

I would tell the HR you want to cancel the work permit BEFORE you go to cancel your extension of stay because you need that receipt to cancel your extension.

AND I would tell them you want to do it about a week before your last day at work so you don't have the pressure of doing it at the last minute

Tod Daniels yes why not? Since this is the first time I'm doing this I'm just going by what HR says. But I'm thinking I shouldn't, which is why I posted here. Thanks for your reply.
