Hi, was just wondering if I could get clarification on this process?
I am currently here on a work permit with a yearly extension of stay (where I have to do 90 day reporting - TM.30).
If I were to quit my job. I will need to get papers to say I stopped working on day ??/??/?? then go to Ministry of labour where I got my work permit to cancel it.
After this is done I will need to get the document that my work permit is cancelled then go to the immigration office to cancel my extension of stay, which then they will give me 7 days to leave the country or as of now until 25 November there is a COVID extension that I could apply for?
Just wondering if this information for this procedure is correct?^ TIA
TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for an expat quitting their job on a work permit in Thailand involves a sequence of steps: first, you need to obtain a document to confirm your employment cessation and then proceed to cancel your work permit at the Ministry of Labour. After that, you must cancel your extension of stay at the immigration office, which usually gives you 7 days to leave the country. However, there is a specific COVID extension you can apply for until November 25. It's important to note that you might not automatically receive 7 days to leave; you can apply for a 60-day COVID extension before its deadline or face penalties if denied an extension.
