Hello,

When someone is on a Non b / Work Permit, and decides to leave that job, is the Non b visa automatically cancelled, alongside the work permit, or is it cancelled after it was originally set to expire, at the end of the contract?

Thank you ka.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you leave a job while on a Non B visa and work permit, both become invalid immediately upon termination of employment, despite any remaining validity period on the visa. It is essential to notify the Thai Labor Ministry and Thai Immigration of your job departure to avoid overstaying.

If you are on extension based on employment (after the first 90dasy) you have to cancel both of them clearly. Once your contract ends, your extension is invalid even if its "until" date is months away. If you are on an invalid extension, it means you are on overstay.

Be very careful of quitting your job that has the non b visa or extension of stay with Thai work permit.

If you quit your job you must notify the Thai Labor Ministry and Thai Immigration.

With COVID you may find it very difficult to get a new non b visa inside Thailand... As borders are closed etc.

Check what you have in your passport.

IF you have a Non-B, which is a full page sticker, the validity continues until your "admitted to" stamp.

IF you have a one year extension of stay based on employment ("The stamp"), the extension of stay requires that you have an existing work permit. Once the work permit (or the reason for your extension) is no longer valid, then your extension of stay is also invalid.

Tara Yoki If the OP is on the original single entry Non-B visa, they would have gotten stamped in for 90 days on entry. There would be nothing she would do to cancel her entry stamp.
