Dear all,

I have a non immigrant b Visa that is valid thill 30.August but my company informed me that they will terminate my work contract on 1.june.

I called the German embassy about my case and they told me my Visa will be valid till 31.July same like the tourist Visas that have been extended.

Is that correct?

What are the next steps?

Should I go to the immigration and inform them about the termination of my contract?

Will I get a new stamp valid till 31.July?

I want to avoid an overstay.

Thank you very much for your advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non-Immigrant B Visa set to expire on August 30, but their company will terminate their contract on June 1. They inquired about the validity of their visa and what steps to take after termination. Other users clarified that they need to cancel their work permit and notify immigration, which will allow them to stay until July 31 under an automatic visa amnesty, avoiding overstay issues.

You MUST go to the Ministry of Labor and cancel your Work Permit, with documents that it is cancelled you MUST visit the Immigration Office and cancel your permitted to stay period based on employment. You will get a new last day of stay stamped in your passport, normally you must leave that day or apply for a new Extension of Stay.

If you can not leave Thailand you may use the amnesty period, at the moment until 31 July or until a new announcement is made.

it might sound like a stupid question after being in Thailand for 11 years on non-b visas (obtained in Malaysia every year) and work permit but how do one get a 1 year extension of stay based on employment? It seems like the better option with reporting inside TH instead of having to do border runs 🤔 what is the difference between them?

So this would be correct:

"... It's better to go to the MOL and cancel the work permit, take the receipt to the immigration office along with a paper from your place of employment and cancel the extension at the immigration, THEN stay till 31.July"

And again it shows to understand the difference of what is inside the passport and the correct terminology.

There are so much differences between a Visa you buy at a Thai Consulate and

a Stamp for 1 year Extension of Stay based on employment in Thailand you can get at your local Immigration Office.

That would be correct IF you had a Non-B visa; you do not.

>Should I go to the immigration and inform them about the termination of my contract?

Yes, you need to cancel your work permit and your extension of stay based on employment. When you do that, you will be able to go on amnesty automatically.

>Will I get a new stamp valid till 31.July?

No, the amnesty is automatic.

>I want to avoid an overstay.

If you cancel your extension of stay based on employment, you will *NOT* go on overstay, but go on the automatic visa amnesty. You can stay in Thailand no later then July 31.

I have extension of stay in my passport ... it was extended every year and I had to do the 90 days report at immigration

Question is do you have a Non Immigrant B visa like to upper picture or an Extension of Stay like the picture below.

With a visa you left every 90 days Thailand and visit an Consulate to buy a new visa and with the Extension of Stay you visited the Immigration Office and got stamped for 1 year of permitted to stay?
