Was issued a my DTV a few days ago and just wanted to update the group as I found a lot of the info on here helpful. So hopefully my experience might help others when applying.

Applied for the visa at the thai embassy in London on 8th of Dec (Sunday morning). Went with workcation visa based on remote work. Submitted the usual docs. Passport, photo, used driving licence for proof of location, bank statement with 500k thb (statement dates from start of Dec to the 6th), and a letter from my employer confirming that they were happy for me to work remotely and they support my application.

On Monday they asked for additional docs. They wanted a better copy of my passport and photo. Plus a copy of my work contract and an e-ticket showing my name and departure dates from the UK. My work provided a temporary flight reservation but never confirmed the booking, which I thought might be an issue and I supplied the rest.

On Thursday afternoon I received my 5 year visa.

Grateful for this group for all the information leading to approved DTVs in Vientiane for me and my partner, now giving back. Both are under Remote Work Category - we are both on consulting contracts for different charities in other countries. We both hold Philippine passports.

1st application, my application submitted on Sept 24 with the following documents:

- Cover letter detailing the list of documents, the nature of my remote work highlighting thr job can be done through my laptop, my intentions for staying in Thailand - to immerse myself in its people and culture, as well as scuba dive around.

- Certification of consulting services signed by employer mentioning: ability to work remote and remuneration information.

- Consulting contract

- Payslips / Proof of payment from employer in the last 6 months

- Bank statements for the last 6 months from 2 banks both with more than 500K THB

- Proof of current location: Laos entry stamp, Vientiane hotel booking

- Additional supporting documents: TM30, Flight to Bangkok

Immigration officer asked one question: What is your work? I explained it's training staff from other countries remotely.

Received the approved DTV on September 26.

2nd application by my partner, submitted the same exact documents on October 4. Note she had an ED Visa and a reentry permit when she applied. Was asked one question: Are these your payslips, the response was yes. Approved on October 8.

A huge relief after getting approval for us both. Thank you to this group and everyone for being generous of timely updates.

[Regarding getting a visa at Savannakhet]

Hi everyone, I came to Thailand a few days ago with my Thai wife to visit her family and I entered on a Visa On Arrival (Indian Citizen). I wanted to be here for around 30 days however I only have 15 days on the VoA. Tried to extend it for “visiting Thai spouse” but the local immigration office told me that we can only do it on a TR on non-Imm O visa.

Anyway, now I’m planning to drive to Savannakhet since it’s only 3 hours away from me and then get a visa from the Thai embassy there. Some questions I had:

1. Will I need to show a flight ticket back from Savannakhet to get a Lao Visa on Arrival? I’ll just be driving in and then back to Thailand so I won’t have it.

2. Is it better for me to apply for a visitor visa based on visiting Thai family or better to apply for a O visa. I can apply for either but wondering which one has better chances of being approved or which is faster to get.

3. It might be complicated to take a Thai car into Laos so I’m wondering if there’s a way to park the car in Mukhadan, Thailand and then take public transit or walk into Savannakhet or something of that sort?

4. Is there anyone who has been there recently and can share their experience regarding the wait times at the embassy or anything else I should know with regards to documents I should have. I’ll of course take all usual docs such as marriage certificate (issued in Canada), copy of house registration, my wife and her ID, Passport etc. Can I pay the visa fees in THB cash or will I need another way of paying?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi Guys.

Flying to Thailand in January for 2 months.

Married to Thai National but only need Tourist Visa ( 57 days )

I think there are 9 steps for E. Visa.

1 - Passport Main page

2 - Photo of empty passport page for last year's travel

3 - Passport size photo

4 - Flight ticket

5 - Declaration form

6 - Letter of invitation from wife ( Not Booking Hotel )

7 - Bank Statement

8 - Proof of Residency = Passport Main Page

9 - Photo of me holding Passport next to head

* Do NOT have to send your Passport to Embassy ?

Have I missed anything ?

Thanks.
