What are the challenges and tips for applying for the DTV visa through the UK embassy?

I was recently approved for the DTV by the London Embassy - soft power.

It wasn't an easy application for me. I found the uploads difficult. I diligently printed out pages and pages of bank statements but, in the end, could only upload one page - a summary of my current account.

Following my application, I was asked for evidence of my flight. I hadn't bought one as had been told it wasn't necessary. I then felt I had to buy one that left within three months, which was earlier than I wanted to leave, due to the time limits outlined on the application page.

The Embassy then wanted an eticket. Norsk does not provide them apparently and, in any case, I couldn't get through to them. I rang the Embassy and explained the situation. I then cancelled the flight and bought another ticket that leaves in 4 months' time. The Embassy employee said that would be OK as long as the start date of the course corresponded to the departure date.

I also had to send another photo taken with my phone. That was also rejected and I was asked to resubmit it - a glitch in their system it seems.

Anyway, I'm writing this just in case any of it is useful to someone else. I found the whole process a bit of a nightmare, despite the form itself not being too difficult. I found being able to speak to someone at the Embassy helpful.

All the best!

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
