yes, that’s what happened to me. Someone in the comments above also said that they saw someone’s financial documents being verified in the same way.
I was 3rd in line and they’re weren’t really many people lining up outside that day because the next day was a holiday which is why I could get out fast. On the flip side, I had to stay an extra day in Savannakhet. I bet if one goes on a Friday the line would be pretty short but you’d have to wait until Monday to get your passport back.
It was a good hotel with pretty cheap rates. It’s cheaper if you show up in person vs booking online and they accept THB. And, it’s even cheaper if you can pay in Kip.
They’ve great food of all kinds as well and scooter rentals. Would recommend!
it’s a requirement to have certain amount of funds in a bank account for a tourist visa and I’m assuming that they just wanted to make sure I’m not giving them a fake copy of my bank statement
yes, paying in THB is more expensive but that’s just how the Laos visa rates are set. I think maybe I was charged an extra 100 since I didn’t have photos. However, if you pay in USD that’s definitely the cheaper option
Yes, that’s right. I got a 60 day tourist visa but you can use this embassy for Non-Immigration O Visa as well.
However, for me it took 48 hours instead of 24 because it was a public holiday on the day after my initial visit so I had to wait for an extra day. If you go in a way where there are 2 consecutive working days then you can get your passport back next day.
