Just want to thank the moderators for all their help. I have successfully received a Non O Immigrant visa as a trailing spouse of a retiree in Penang, Malaysia.

I submitted the following documents:

- bank statements

- copy of marriage certificate

- lease agreement

- 2 photos

- copy of my passport

- copy of my husband's passport and Non O visa page

- application form

- fee of 320 MYR

They only accept application at 9-11 AM and pick up of passport the next afternoon.

Cheers,

Lorela

Thank you for reporting this! We are flying there next week. Did the local Thailand immigration convert it to a retirement extension or are you waiting until the 3 months are up?

@Jack ********
they are NOT getting a retirement anything. this was for a "trailing spouse" Non-O and when they have 30 days or less left on that 90 day stamp they will go in and get an extension for the spouse that matches the husbands retirement extension.

Wow!!!!! great to hear. I was knocked back in Vientiane. Thanyou for sharing

Vientiane and Savannakhet don't issue Non-O visas based on trailing spouse or dependent to a retiree (Non-O/extension) they stopped before the covid lock down unless I'm mistaken

I went apply for a Non O for my Laos wife and daughter to trail my extension of stay based on retirement. Had everything marriage certificate translations funds etc. I was told the rules have changed. Can only apply for spouse of thai or spouse on business or Ed visa not retirement. Let them in on a 60 day tourist.

Tips:

-They still require mask.

-Applicants with kids will be prioritise in line.

-Separate lines for applicants (1 Chinese and 1 for others).

@Nick ******
they only require a copy at this time. But I think Chiang Mai Immigration will require it for 1 year extension so I had it certified by MAF.

Congrats

That is GREAT news (y) (y) (y) No one really knew if Penang was still issuing single entry Non-O visas based on trailing spouse of retiree visa/extension holders.

Good for you, and thank you for letting the group know..

There are more than a few people in situations where they need to get this visa as it can't be gotten in country.

Thank you for the update
