My Thai Motorcycle and Car (5 year issue) are due to expire in August 2024.

Can you please advise how many months prior I can renew?

Please also list document requirements?

Would I need to resit the tests again?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can renew your Thai motorcycle and car license up to 3 months before expiration. To achieve a longer 6-year license, it is advisable to renew right after your birthday in August. Required documents include a residence certificate from immigration, a doctor's statement regarding your health, your passport, and existing licenses. At the Department of Land Transport (DLT), you will only need to complete simple eyesight and reaction tests.

You’ll need another residence certificate from the immigration and a simple doctor’s statement regarding general health condition.

Bring you passport and licenses, and you’ll need to make copies at the DLT.

At the DLT you only need to do some simple test regarding sight and reaction. If you’re still on a Long Term visa you’ll get another five years.

I have a Pink Thai ID card, would this suffice in place of resident certificate?

I believe you can use the yellow house book, in place of a residents certificate if you have got one, just what I've heard.

I hope some more experienced people than me can tell. I did and renewed my licenses four times, every time with a residence certificate as my only option.

you must also do the e learning. Just watch 4 YouTube clips and answer 4 questions. Show them the QR code.

You can do 3 months prior but do it just after your birthday in August that way you’ll get a 6 year license.

At the DLT in Buriram they didn’t let me renew my licenses until the last day of the validity. I’ve seen feedbacks with the same experience but also as you state, so it probably varies a bit depending on where you are.
