Good morning! Can I renew my thai driving license at any transport office OUTSIDE the PROVINCE where I have my address (TM30)? Is it possible to obtain your residence certificate and 90-day report at any immigration office outside the province? How many days before expire can I renew my driving license? Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can renew your Thai driving license at any transportation office in the country, regardless of your registered province. However, you cannot obtain your residence certificate or file your 90-day report outside your registered province. You may renew your driving license up to 6 months before its expiration date and 1 year after. Notably, if your license expires, renewing it within a day could allow you to receive an additional year on your 5-year duration, but you will need to ensure compliance with the TM30 requirements in the province where you apply.

If you let it expire 1 day you’ll get an extra year out of your 5 year you’ll need a TM30 in whatever province you apply for that province

Are you on your first 5 years?

thanx for answer. Another question, is it possible another way to apply for residence certificate at distance far away from your province? for example by internet website? I know that for 90 day report is possible

Most offices will issue you a certificate of residency if you have a tm30 there, which you can get from a 1 night stay in a hotel.

Chiang mai you can get one across the street from immigration without anything for 1k baht.

But he can’t renew his license without a TM.30

@J**
DLT doesn't require a tm30

@Garrett **********
he has to use the DLT of the place where he lives, where he is TM30 registered. Because the DLT wants to see his "certificate of residence" from Immigration. You can only get it from the Immigration that serves the area where your accomodation is TM30 registered
Jan ******************
@Greg **********
Yes that’s also my point. Even if the DLT doesn’t require the TM.30 itself, a TM.30 is anyway required to get a residence certificate to the DLT where you want to apply for/renew your licences.
Jan ******************
@Garrett **********
No, not the TM.30 itself, but a residence certificate from the immigration where his TM.30 is registered? At least that’s the way I’ve done mine in 12 years. Do you mean it’s possible to apply for a license at any DLT no matter where you’re TM.30 is registered?
Garrett ***********
@J**
You should use the DLT office that matches the address on your certificate of residency or yellow book. Would any office processes a renew in a different province? I'm not sure.

@Garrett **********
and even with my yellow housebook, I can only use it on the DLT of the province or Changwat, where the adress is that is printed in my yellow housebook. I cannot use the yellow housebook as a substitute for the certificate of residence outside of that Changwat. I could maybe use it for other purposes, but NOT for the drivers license renewal. It might be DLT specific, maybe some DLT's of the thousands of DLT's all over Thailand will accept it, but as far as I can say I don't know anyone who did succeed
Jan ******************
@Garrett **********
Yes, agree. I’ve renewed in different provinces, but I always needed to provide a residence certificate from where my TM.30 was registered at date.

@Brian ******
although technically you cant drive after the licence has expired. The 1 year is before they make you do the process from scratch, back to 2yr temporary licence and possible test.
