TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a retirement visa in Thailand, individuals must be over 50 years old and can apply for a yearly extension based on their current visa. This process requires either proof of a minimum of ฿800,000 in a Thai bank account in the applicant's name for at least 60 days prior to application or an income of at least ฿65,000 per month. Additionally, the current visa will become invalid upon application for the extension.

:/ but the O/P already has a valid visa and is here in thailand. They are wanting to get a yearly extension of stay based on being over 50 (retirement) from the immigration office that serves the area where they live.

On ANY of your 90 day entries when you have 30 days or less left on it you could go to the immigration office and apply for a year extension based on being over 50 (retirement).

IF you are using the banked money method you need to have the 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 60 days before you apply for the year extension.

Remember once you apply for the year extension the visa you have now is no good anymore. I would say you might as well get as long as you can out of it by border-bouncing every 90 days for the next 15 months.
