How urgent is it to apply for the DTV before returning to Thailand on a visa exemption?

I am currently in Thailand on a visa exemption and planning to apply for the DTV. I'm wondering how urgent it is to apply.

So far this year, I’ve already used a visa exemption and extended it to 90 days. I left the country to the US and came back again on a new visa exemption, and I’ve now been here about 30 days. I'm going to Korea next week. Before all this, I also spent about 1.5 months in Thailand at the end of last year.

Can I return to Thailand one more time on a visa exemption, or is there a high risk that I’ll be denied entry at the border?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand on a visa exemption and considering applying for the DTV visa. They have already utilized a visa exemption for a total of 90 days, and after returning from the US, they are interested in whether they can re-enter Thailand on another visa exemption or if they face a risk of being denied entry. Various comments suggest that while re-entry may be possible, there is a significant risk of denial or warnings from immigration, especially after multiple entries in a year. It is recommended to apply for the DTV before further travel to mitigate these risks.

When I did "visa run" last year, after 3 time on the same year they want to block me at the airport, after some talk they let me 1 last time stay here, when I leaved, immigration at airport was not very happy and give me again a warning ( I was leaving ... ), I come back with dtv, no problem.

So yes you are at risk, at least for a warning/talk with immigration , and maybe more ...

Participant anonyme 766 and to be precise, they tell me I cannot come back with a tourist visa for next 3 months ( I come back after 1 month with dtv, no problem )

They gave me a warning that “next time” I needed to get a proper visa to enter. Previously I had been doing visa exemptions.

Tourist visas aren’t hard and it’s just $35. You can apply online from the USA (or possibly korea).

If I have DTV , can I enter easily?

I had a history of staying with tourist visa extension and visa exemption.

they’ve been denying/warning people at immigration via land/air boarders.

an easy method would be to use a company to do the visa run, as they handle it for you and it’s basically a lock.

I'd say you're pushing your luck, go to a nearby country and get the DTV first.

Depends. If you dont have an extensive record of stamps from the past, especialy in Covid times, you should be fine. But there are many immigration officers in a bad mood out there. Especialy If you enter via Bangkok or Phuket airports.

Nobody can tell you that other than the immigration officer you will stand in front of. If you're having to ask the question I suspect you know what the answer is

You can return the Thailand as many times as you want on a Visa exemption. Unless they tell you otherwise. Don't overthink the process. When you leave Thailand everything starts over.

Unless you have a law that confirms what you are talking about. . .

ScenicPersimmon526 It's thailands country, what they say goes. Immigration officers can decide as they please whether its a law or not. Best to be prepared on your end
