What are the best visa options for staying in Thailand for four months as a German citizen?

Hello everyone. I am German and would like to be in Thailand from December 25 to the end of March 26. For the DTV only Softskill is an option. Are there offers for only 4 months? What if I want to change my location after 2 months? What if I pay for the course but don't go at all? I would also only take care of accommodation and flights once I have the DTV, because otherwise I can't plan it. So the course should also offer a full refund if I don't get the DTV. I would be very grateful for any advice. Are there people here who have received the DTV in Germany (via Berlin) and would share their experiences with me?

Kind regards

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on the best way to stay in Thailand from December to March without enrolling in a DTV course. Community members suggest alternatives to the DTV visa, such as obtaining a visa exemption upon arrival for 60 days, doing a visa run to extend the stay, and applying for a multi-entry tourist visa (METV) that could allow for up to 9 months of stay. They advise against the DTV for just a four-month stay and suggest considering the cost-effectiveness and legality of other visa options.

Do everybody a Big favor. Forget about getting the DTV visa. It's NOT for you. Instead,

Apply for the METV multiple entry tourist visa in your home country before you fly to Thailand. With planning it can get you up to 9 months stay with a couple simple border bounces. You get 60 days on arrival into Thailand Plus one 30 day extension of stay at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht. Do a BORDER BOUNCE and get a NEW 60 day stamp Plus one 30 day extension.

Or do as Ray CK suggested... arrive as Visa Exempt Entry and get 60 days STAMP Plus One 30 day extension. A BORDER BOUNCE repeats that.

The premise or questiom that you are thinking about getting the DTV visa with fraud intentions is not good.

Stay legal and enjoy your visit to Thailand.

Many thanks for the feedback. Interesting that you assume illegal intentions. Even if it is irrelevant, I only had the chance of a workation. So I was fixated on the DTV. As this is no longer possible for me, I wanted to get some opinions, without any ulterior motives. I will look for a ME. Many thanks and best regards

Anonymous participant best wishes for success in whatever you choose to do. Feel free to check back with this forum as more reports come in from those who have applied for the DTV visa. Everyone is in the same boat, so to speak. Take care 🤗

My advice to you just go to Thailand and get 2 months exemption and do a visa run for another 2 months here is your 4 months

if you want to be in thailand for just for month, I'd rather do a bourder bounce once that with extensions can give me up to 6 months. If you have a history of bouncing then the multi entry visa can give u up to 9 months and it costs a fraction of the dtv. If you really want the DTV instead, 4 months course might not be enough to qualify for it and you would better get at least 6+ months course
