TLDR : Answer Summary
Users shared helpful experiences and tips for doing a visa run in Bali, particularly for obtaining a Thai tourist visa. Key advice includes ensuring all paperwork is complete beforehand, confirming the location of the consulate, and arranging transport effectively since the consulate is in a residential area. Additionally, travelers noted that there were minimal waiting times and suggested considering proof of funds, return tickets, and a hotel booking when applying.
Be sure to tell your taxi driver to wait for you. It's a residential area, so you have to walk out to the main street and there aren't really good sidewalks or anything... You will literally be there 3-5 minutes unless there is a line of one other person. Then 4-6 minutes.
I am in Bali and just picked mine up. It was a breeze. But you do need to arrive with all the papers and the form filled out. download on the internet.
One of the easiest and quickest consulates to get a Tourist Visa for me. The location is at someones house and there is never a line there, when I went I was the only one there to drop off my application and that took 10 minutes, pick up 2 days later and I was off to the airport.
I have only gotten 60 day Thai tourist visas there. They insist on proof of funds/return ticket/hotel booking/fee paid in IDR. Consulate open in the mornings only to drop off visa, minimum 3 working days to pick up pm. Closed both Balinese and Indonesian national holidays as well as Thai holidays. Off the beaten track a little so taxi or scooter.
