TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has been extending their stay in Thailand by doing consecutive short-term visa runs and extensions. They express concern over being informed by a friend that this practice might be ending. Comments suggest that some travelers experience issues mainly with the 60-day visa exemptions and subsequent extensions. To avoid problems, one comment advises switching to a 60-day visa and then performing a border run for another 60 days, followed by a final extension if needed.

Most people that have been having issues are those that entered for 60 day visa exempt, apply for the 30 day extension, and then leave and return immediately.

Based on your 4 months, I would recommend doing the 60 days and not getting an extension. After 60 days do your border bounce and return for the second 60 days. Then if you need more time you can do a final extension for 30 days.
