Is it better to apply for a DTV Visa from Laos or Vietnam rather than from my home country?

Hi Everyone, I'm new to this group. It seems a lot of people are applying for the DTV Visa while being in Laos or Vietnam. Is that better then just applying online from your home country and waiting to be approved then flying directly to Thailand?

Also I own my own registered company and provide online freelance/subcontractor services but don't have any significant branding or website to show for it will that be an issue?

My business account currently doesn't have the 500k sitting there but my personal savings does should be fine right.

Thanks for any insights!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the DTV Visa application process, particularly whether it's more effective to apply from Laos or Vietnam rather than from one's home country. Several comments suggest that many expatriates are applying from neighboring countries due to their proximity to Thailand and previous visa exemptions. The ease of application from one's home country varies based on specific regulations and can often be quicker. Additionally, there are concerns about demonstrating business legitimacy without a significant online presence or meeting the 500k THB requirement in a business account, which leads to questions about personal savings being sufficient.

Many are applying from Vietnam or Laos because they have been living in Thailand on visa exemptions. They are already here in the region

Depends on your home country. Different places have different rules or are stricter.

Was it Japan someone said earlier was difficult ?
