I completed my online application and submitted it. I chose postal option. Thinking they would check docs online. I waited to hear that they wanted the originals. This is not the case. So after a week I just posted them off anyway.

Monday- posted off docs and barcode

Tues- got email about proof of income. Rang them and talked through salary deposits. Online status immediately changed to Pending approval.

Weds- I had not sent £10 cash for return postage. So did so.

Thu- my online application disappeared from website. I rang. She said it was going out today

Fri- arrived.

Not an expert. But happy to help if anyones struggling

I try to get first hand update from people that actual get the visa approved and have picked it up. I try to help a friend, an elderly lady...

I think like many people my savings are in Building society and premium bonds do you know if a record of that would be ok ?as I only keep a minimal amount in my bank.

I could get a letter also confirming my annual/ monthly pension.

Thanks for any help.

Our GP just signed ours without question. But I have heard of some not willing to do so. Could you get in to another GP in the practice who might be more flexible? Do you know any doctor's personally who might help out?

@Toby *******
Had to pay a private GP for mine (£280). My surgery said they didn't offer that service.

How did you get your doctor's certificate refuse to sign mine because he said he could not check if I had leprosy
Chris ******
It certainly is - I am of the opinion that they don't want retirees there any longer - maybe that's just me and my cycnicism!

Yes - passport, bank statements, medical cert and police check. I only scanned in the first page of each month's statements (too keep the file small enough) but posted off all pages, stamped by my bank

From submitting the application to getting visa back in the post was only about 7 working days. So once you have originals and scan them in, you're good to go.

I am the same. Did combo of savings and income. That's why she needed talking through it. My salary comes from different sources each month.

Really pleased for you. I’ve got my walk in appointment for this Monday. I’m actually really nervous about my income paperwork and the fact that they no longer specifically state that a combined method is ok. If it’s not I’m screwed as my house rental which was
