Does anyone know if you can apply for a tourist visa online, while still in thailand?
Im aware Id have to leave and re-enter.
There is a part in the application that says 'permanent residency/current location' which is a bit confusing... Im from the UK but currently in Thailand.
Thank you 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a tourist visa online while currently in Thailand is theoretically possible, but practically challenging. It's generally required to be outside of Thailand to submit the application. The application involves uploading passport pages, which would reveal that the applicant is still in Thailand. Various embassies have different policies, so there's no guarantee of approval if you apply from the country. Many suggest it's easier to exit and re-enter Thailand to receive a new visa on entry, which grants an additional 45 days.
I tried to apply for an e visa for Thailand while I was in Vietnam. One of the required documents was for flight into Thailand. Because my flight was for Vietnam—> Thailand, the embassy wrote me an email requesting proof I was in the USA and not abroad. I was short on time and ended up not following up. But this was my experience.
Question has been asked many times before and it seems that there is no definite answer.
All e-visa are reviewed and granted by the respective embassy of your home country and it looks like that different embassies decide differently.
You have to upload a flight ticket to Thailand which you of course can buy and cancel but still no guarantee that just your embassy will grant you a visa.
Is it really worth the hassle when you can easily get 45 days visa exemption which you can extend for further 30 days in country?
To the best of my knowledge you have to be outside Thailand to apply for a tourist visa. Anything done inside the country would be an extension to that visa
In theory you could. However in practice no. Part of the application process is to upload all the pages of your passport at which point they’d see that you’re currently in Thailand.
You need to be in the country you’re applying from.
