Bought a 90 day Non O Visa this morning at the Thai Consulate in Cardiff interesting conversation with the Clerk

The consulate is due to close in June and all other consulates will will follow suit in time across the country eventually all visa’s will be controlled by immigration in Bangkok

on line by means of a barcode

System down loaded on line I inquired about the elderly etc who are not capable to use computers etc he implied that in time selected travel agents would do the application for you ......

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Consulate in Cardiff will soon close, leading to all visa applications being managed by immigration in Bangkok through an online system. While the process involves using a barcode system, there are concerns about accessibility for elderly applicants. Licensed travel agents in the UK can assist with applications, albeit at a higher cost. Community members express mixed feelings about the current visa application system and the transition to digital services, citing issues with the existing processes at Thai embassies.

thanx for the update (y) I think you need to edit that because all the visas WON'T be controlled by Immigrations in Bangkok.

Immigrations has no dog in the fight selling visas in other countries, That's the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Office. And all that's happening is it's eventually turning to a totally online system (like London is already).

Good things need time, next Thai Visa step is, Online Visa, at the moment system doesn't works well and Online Visa is the future not only for Thaiand, many country recommend this Digital Srvice for more convenience

Well by the time they get the online portal to actually work or at least answer the telephone to learn of these major bugs in the program, other than 2 week millionaires who don’t require a Visa, whose going to put up with the stress.

That’ll be interesting as elements of the current site don’t work & no one answers the phone at the London Embassy. Only been going since 95, & can’t get a Visa or anyone to answer the phone.

If you don't want to do the application yourself, this is the affiliated agent in London that will do it for you.

All applications in the UK will eventually need to be completed via the London Thai Embassy Evisa application system. Licenced agents in the UK can already do the application for you. The cost is around about x2 than doing it yourself. You still require the same documents.
