Friends, I'm applying online for a 60 day Tourist visa.

Is this the only site to use? I've tried 4-5 times and get a 404 error after I hit the final command (to submit the application).

Any suggestions appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is experiencing issues while applying for a 60-day Tourist visa online, receiving a 404 error upon submission. Various comments advise that online applications might not be allowed based on nationality and location, suggesting that Americans in China cannot use the e-visa system and must apply through a local Thai embassy or consulate. Additionally, users share tips on managing application errors and potential solutions, including checking residency requirements and the possibility of using different web browsers or avoiding VPNs.

Like Japan, it is all to do with residency cards, where they are issued, where you live etc.

It maybe, he cannot apply using Evisa, and has to apply at an embassy or consulate or cannot apply for a visa at all.

These country's are not straightforward for visa applications. Not all foreign passport holders with a UK residency, can use the Evisa system in the UK. Some have to make embassy appointments and the applications can take weeks. France is the same

I think

Good point. I'm using Chrome but with a VPN in Hong Kong. Change of location might help.

If he was in the UK, US passport and UK residency, yes he could.

Applying in China, I don't know. China is different in the fact, the same as Japan, that the applications are province specific in where you want to apply the application.

You would need to read the requirements at the Embassy or consulate in the province you live in, alongside the Evisa application website.

No good me reading those consulate and conditions. They are in chinese

Aha, that could be right. I'll try a Chinese browser. Will report back.

Hold on a minute. If your using a VPN faking Hong Kong, that could well be the reason. The system is seeing you not in China

Okay, using Chrome now. VPN in Hong Kong. Will try in the morning.

Yes, thanks. I see that too. Chinese and Thai, and don't trust the browser translation. I'll try to visit the consulate--but with the corona virus about, they may not be inviting folks in for tea.

Kidding about the sneak. I'll try your above suggestion in the a.m., and thanks.

Don't try to play around in the system, you get blocked and as this system is under direct supervision of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok, it will take lots of time and hassle to get rid of this block

We'll see if there are any ways to sneak around this one...

I decided to peak in your Facebook page. It looks like you're either:

American, in the USA

American, in China

In both situations, you CAN NOT use the e-visa system. You have to go to the local consulate.

What is your nationality?

What is your current location?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Right, American residing in China.

As you have not answered my 2 simple questions...your profile suggests you are an American and live in Shanghai, China.

As a University Professor, I assume you have residency in Shanghai. And are seeking to obtain a Tourist Visa using the e-Visa online system in China.

did you read the note which appears, before you can hit the "apply for visa" which will open a 404 site? Because you must apply in your home country. The note says . . . . "You should apply for a TOURIST VISA from the Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Thai Consulate-General. With a Tourist visa, you can stay in Thailand for no longer than 60 days. If you wish to stay in Thailand for more than 60 days, you can extend your stay with the Immigration Bureau. APPLY FOR VISA" . . . . .and this means you are not supposed to click onto "apply for visa" - instead, do as the first sentence tells you to do: VISIT an embassy or a consulate, or proceed from out of THEIR websites

. I saw this. And my nationality and country of residence are the first questions I answer. Then I am prompted to continue the application, which I did but which I could submit, finally.
James ********
What passport/nationality?

What country are you making application for a Thai visa from?
