TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent experiences at the Royal Embassy of Thailand in Kuala Lumpur highlight a few key points regarding the visa application process. The embassy allows only 130 visa applicants each day, and it is advisable to arrive early as a large number of people line up before opening time. There is no provision for forms or copy services on site, so all necessary documents should be prepared in advance. The embassy is also transitioning to a digital application system, similar to what is used in Singapore, which may improve the process in the future.

The worker inside are fantastic. Yesterday I was the n. 35 and I finished in 20 minutes.

I am there right now and can add some info if you plan to come here.

They only allow 130 visa applicants each day. I arrived 09.15 (they open 09.30) and there were probably 70 people already in line. The line kept growing behind me so get here early if you want to be sure to be let inside!

They also do not provide any forms or copyservice so be sure to have all your documents ready before getting here.

1 I think it is the adress in Kuala lumpur. 2 I always just write my own name for contact and that has always been accepted.

I have a couple of questions for you. I will be using this office in KL to apply for a SETV to Thailand. I have had a look at the application form and am unsure about a couple of things: 1) where it asks for current address where I am living, do I put the address of where I will be staying in KL or my permanent home address? (This is a bit confusing as the next line asks for the permanent address) and 2) What did you enter for the name of a contact in Thailand? I don't know what to write there as I do not know anyone in Thailand. I think I recall having read somewhere that it is possible to write the name of the first hotel in Thailand where I will be staying. Is that true? Thanks for your help.

yes I know. My point was, KL, London, Paris and Beijing that I know of have already posted notices of switching over to the same system at some stage.

singapore still makes you bring all the documentation you previously sent them during the online application process, copies, forms, photos etc.

If run properly that could be a blessing - no more queueing?
