The user is seeking advice on obtaining a Non-Immigrant B visa for their South African girlfriend amidst various restrictions. Several commenters suggest that Vientiane in Laos or Kota Bharu in Malaysia are viable options, while highlighting the differences in requirements based on the nature of the visa (e.g., teaching vs. business). The thread emphasizes the need to verify specific consulate requirements and mentions that Singapore's online process may not be suitable for a teaching visa.

And remember there is a BIG difference between getting a Non-B because you're teaching here versus getting one for working in another trade LOOK at the website of the consulate you're thinking of using and make sure you meet the requirements posted on THAT consulate. They are not all the same

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh I think are out for S/A passport holders. :/ Look on the website for the list of restricted countries
Vientiane or Savannakhet Lao would work. As would Kota Bharu Malaysia BUT Penang and Kuala Lumpur are out. Singapore is ALL online so they'll tell you before you go there if you're approved or not so you don't waste a trip
