Hi, I’m Irish and thinking of going to Thailand for three months, I would like to base myself there but would also like to visit both Laos and Vietnam, is it possible to get multi-entry visas and how do I go about it and an idea of the cost would be appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Irish citizen traveling to Thailand for three months can easily navigate visa requirements without needing a multi-entry visa. With an Irish passport, travelers receive a 30-day stamp upon entry, which can be extended by applying for a 30-day extension. There's no need for a multi-entry visa, as the traveler can visit Laos and Vietnam within these timeframes and return for another 30 days in Thailand. A tourist visa is also available for 60 days, but an entry stamp is more cost-effective. Multi-entry visas can be expensive, approximately £150, while a single-entry visa costs around £30.

tourist visa gives you 60 days then extend, beware their website is a shit show at the minute when you try and pay, it took me nearly 30 times with different cards, browsers devices, and took over 7 days to get it, so try and do early fella

A multiple entry visa for Thailand is expensive. I think around £150. You can get a single entry visa for £30 that would give you 60 days, or depending on your travel plans have no visa and get a visa exempt stamp for 30 days for free.

A visa exempt entry for 30 days is for free. You can apply for another 30 days extension for 1,900 baht but depending on the dates you may find the single entry tourist visa cheaper for £30 rather than an extension at approx £45

If you're only going to Thailand for 3 months and plan on traveling, then there's no benefit or reason for you to get any visa at all, let alone an expensive multiple entry visa.

With an Irish passport you'll receive a 30 day stamp each time you enter Thailand. You can also apply for a 30 day extension on each one of these entries.

So enter Thailand, go visit Laos within 30 days and you never even need to go to immigration, or if you visit Laos from 30-60 days then you just need to apply for the extension before you leave.

Same thing when you return from visiting Laos, you'll get a 30 day stamp and then if you go to Vietnam before 30 days you don't need to do anything, or if you go to Vietnam from 30-60 days you just need to go to immigration and apply for the 30 day extension.
