Are there any surrounding countries close to Thailand that are allowing entry of tourists, or is everything locked down in SE Asia?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the current state of travel restrictions in Southeast Asia due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Most countries are under lockdown; however, Cambodia is open to tourists with restrictions, requiring a negative Covid test before entry. Travelers express concern over high costs associated with traveling and quarantining. The discussion also touches on how to obtain new visas after the expiring amnesty and the likelihood of Southeast Asian countries reopening their borders soon.
pardon? It is clear with the many daily changes there are moves to open up to some groups within the Elite Club and other groups. Time will see more people being able to come in. Watch as overseas countries fall to the 2nd wave you will see it was a wait the country needs.

The best is to wait for another 2 months most of the SE Asian countries will open their borders and can go like before the pandemic everything will become normal

Yeah, and there is a Santa Claus and Easter Bunny. Some people make statements with no basis in fact.

My understanding is that you can enter Cambodia after paying a 3K US dollar deposit, doing a 14 day quarantine and then testing negative.

Yes, I have read similar, in the neighborhood 2-3000, which you get back if everybody on your plane Tests negative. What I am trying to get to the bottom of is some people have posted you can then changed to an extended visa, not business, educational or work. Very hard to get the truth.

Other sources indicate otherwise, that one can get a 30 day visa by applying at a Cambodian Embassy.

What do you mean-- to make a new visa? You leave Thailand and go to a country that will accept you. Same as before the pandemic, except now the list of countries available is much smaller and maybe undesirable. Sorry, we don't live in a "fair" world.
2 day's ago a 2000 dollars tickets corona test a querntine hotel he finally made it...

I think Thailand is losing a lot of residents out of all this. I have a Thai wife and son, or I would be gone permanently. No telling how long it will be before I return to see my Thai family. It is looking like I will have been away one year before trying to return, if then. 😕

I sold my condo before leaving Thailand in march, and i wouldnt quarantine, plus pay 7000$,even to get my millions out of Thailand.Bye,Bye, LOS
...you would be surprised...Many people would do alot more than 14 days quarantine to just be able to see their wife and children..There again depends how much you value family.
I know if I could afford all the expenses and time off work It wouldn't bother me 🤔
, yes they are. I initially planned on waiting until next year to try and return, but I was hoping that there was a way to visit with my Thai family. I am on the list of those who can come to Thailand, but it would cost me over 7,000 US dollars right now. Too much money for me. 😕
Most countries that are open require a negative Covid test 72 hours before arrival. There are different restrictions for different countries. It is not looking good for travel anywhere in SE Asia. I will just have to wait.
It's $2,000 and "ordinary" (non tourist) visas only, which you must get in advance at a consulate. Before Covid getting one of these visas was very easy, you just asked for it, but may be more involved now, they may want an invitation from a Cambodian company.
think its actually $3000. Major issue is that if anyone on an incoming flight tests positive the whole flight has to quarantine hence loosing your funds.
you don't necessarily lose the full amount, it just covers costs. Half of it earmarked for your funeral if you die, if you don't die you should get that back. If you do die, you probably don't need it.
yep, I know their embassy in Thailand says tourist visa and e-visas are suspended. Assuming that's the same for rest of their embassies but haven’t checked
