Hi all. So I'm making a big plan to travel across Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want an eSim. Anyone got any recommendations? Calls and texts are not really needed , the priority is data and lots of it! Ideally with 5G too but that's not essential. Cheers đź‘Ť

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation provides various recommendations for eSIM services and local SIM cards for traveling across Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia. Users recommend services like Jetpac for affordable and fast data, Google Fi for seamless international data without needing multiple SIMs, and Airalo for buying eSIMs for specific countries. Other suggestions include purchasing local SIM cards upon arrival for better rates and data offerings.

Have a look at Airalo eSIM website..

From memory they have an Asia wide eSIM available as well as eSIM for all those countries individually if you prefer

Download the app Airalo

Buy the esim you need for each country, the day before you travel there

Easy. Cheap. Easy again.

My suggestion when you arrive in the Philippines, do not buy a simcard right away from the airport it's so expensive. you can buy from any convenient store from the airport or any store outside the airport. or get E-sim

if you will buy simcard outside airport the price might be around 50php and with free 1gb data. if you need to load up your sim you just need to go any

So far I have been using saily. Downloaded the app. Bought a 10gb 30 day package for $9 and working great for me so far

Physical Thai sim card with SEA roaming pack. Hassle free and affordable

If you are coming to Thailand first, look at the AIS network sim, as you can then buy a ontop-roaming package for the other countries, not expensive, and you keep the same number/sim throughout

to buy the sim. been using the same 1gb the last 18 months and still not used up. did pretty much the same trip as you

I used to buy tourist Sims but I switched to Google Fi and international data does not cost any more than local. No need for multiple Sims- although I found I had to use a VPN in some places.

I use and highly recommend Jetpac esim. very affordable prices and very fast data speeds! Amazing customer service! Plus the best part is - free lounge access if flights delayed! Nobody else offers this … all with 7-12$ bundles! if interested, search jetpac global on google

get a sim card in every country might be the cheapest.

dont forget to register your imei in indo or most probably your phone wont work there
