TLDR : Answer Summary
To travel from the Netherlands to Thailand for a holiday, you should primarily book a flight, as it's the most efficient mode of transportation. You'll need to obtain a ThailandPass, which requires registering your travel details along with proof of vaccination or insurance covering $20,000 for COVID-related costs. If you plan to stay less than 30 days, as a Dutch passport holder, you can enter visa-free. It's advisable to show some funds upon entry, but this is rarely enforced. Travel options include direct flights from Amsterdam to Bangkok with airlines like KLM.

Try Greece or the Caribbean.... easier and less complicated same prices and better weather. Oh... and less beurocracy to deal with getting permission (Thai Pass) to get in.

If you don’t mind adding a few days to the itinerary, I would recommend skipping Ukraine right this second and maybe going via Turkey instead.

Could take a camel. Go south by horse until you find a bunch of people speaking Spanish. Take boat to Africa (I don't recommend swimming), get camel go East. If you run into people speaking Chinese, you've gone to far.

When driving out of Amsterdam you take the road to the east. After 20 km there should be a lay-by. Stop there! Now, take your satnav and type in Bangkok! Take the quickest not the shortest route!
Follow your satnav!
See you in 3-4weeks! Have a nice trip!

I hope someone will answer my question here. If I arrive in Thailand is it required to show money? I mean to show that you can afford your vacation in Thailand.
they can ask especially if you look dodgy but its very rare coming from overseas more for people doing border runs. In 30 odd years i been asked once and i was drunk and probably looked very dodgy at time
I always do carry the cash with me though, been lots of reports of asking recently but they have been people been here for long time on covid visa and done border runs and come back with visa exemption.
are you coming here with or without a visa? Either way you can be asked to show you have money (in cash) of 20,000 baht per person, 40,000 baht per family. Or the equivalent in another currency.
Without visa. The travel agency told me that we are under visa free. So should I exchange currency now before I fly to Bangkok or I can change currency when I arrive Bangkok? Anyway Thank you so much for your reply.
not sure where you're from Mary but I'm guessing you will be coming in on what's called visa exempt. You can change money in Bangkok no problem and will likely get a better rate but it's always good to have a bit of local currency when you arrive.
Before COVID, they almost refused me entry with that excuse at Don Muang Airport.
The truth is that they CAN ask for it if they just want to boot you. You should always have $700 cash whenever you enter. Even at airports.
But if they want to boot you that badly, they can find any excuse. But the excuse they almost always use on the paperwork (no matter what they tell you it is) is lack of financial means.
I didn't have cash, so I pulled out my credit cards like a deck of cards.
Although they said that was unacceptable, the Law literally says cash OR equivalent. So I made it difficult for them to use that excuse. I also had proof my retirement payment would be deposited the next morning. They kept pretending they couldn't read it. Photo Translation apps are cheap. And I know they could read it. I made the effort to use a yellow highlighter to point out the amount and date.
If they could have just escorted me to the ATM beyond security, I could have pulled out as much cash as they wanted to see.
The point is, never assume they won't ask. Especially if you have been to Thailand recently, or if you insist on wearing shorts, or heaven forbid, you like to wear T-shirts and sport Dreadlocks.
Dreadlocks will do it every time!
Btw, they let me in after holding me in the office for 3 hours (having to stand the whole time). But they marked a note in my passport.
You need to apply for the Thai pass and have all its requirements

×Get your flights (You're required to have proof onward travel, so be careful if you only have a one way ticket)
×Book a Test and Go hotel that includes airport transfer, Day 1 PCR and Day 5 ATK tests ( I was able to book mine on Agoda, but you can also find a list here:
******************
×Get insurance with $20,000 minimum covid cover for the duration of your stay
×Register all that information + your vaccination certificate with Thailand pass.
Also, if your holiday is less than 30 days you can arrive by visa exemption if you're a Netherlands passport holder so you don't have to worry about applying for anything in that regard.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs website and the Thai airways website says you need either proof of vaccination or a PCR test + $50,000 covid insurance, but Trunk says you don't need anything, you only need to follow the airline and destination countries requirements.
I contacted Thai airways to see if they can clarify, but have not received a response.
